Getting here & where to stay
The château is in Léoville, which is between Jonzac and Cognac, at 5 Route de Puyrigaud, 17500, France. If you're struggling with logistics, let us know and we can try and pair you up with someone with a spare seat in the car.
By air
The closest airport is Bordeaux-Mérignac which is just over an hour away, or La Rochelle is a little further. There are flights from all London airports.
By rail
From London, the Eurostar runs to Paris, and you can get local trains to Bordeaux, Angoulême or Jonzac.
By car
If you're driving, it's roughly 10 hours from London down to the area.
Car hire is available at Bordeaux or La Rochelle airport, or opposite Angoulême train station.
If you haven't been contacted directly regarding accommodation, we'd suggest staying in Jonzac — it's only around 15 minutes from the château and has a number of hotels.
There are other options in the area (including on Airbnb and Booking.com) but especially if you don't want to drive, Jonzac is likely the most convenient. There are also some lovely hotels in Cognac, but it's a little further away.
July is peak season and so we'd recommend booking as soon as possible. We've also put together a Google Maps list of the options below for easy reference.
The area
Charente-Maritime has more to offer than you might expect - here are a few things worth planning around your visit.
City · ~1 hr 20 min
Bordeaux
Bordeaux is one of France's largest cities with a beautiful waterfront, and plenty of food and wine.
Coast · ~1 hr
La Rochelle
Walk around the harbour with its medieval towers, or stop for freshly caught seafood.
Spirits · ~40 min
Cognac
The home of the world's finest brandy. Tour the legendary houses — Hennessy, Rémy Martin, Courvoisier — for cellar walks and tastings.
History · ~30 min
Saintes
A Roman town with a triumphal arch and medieval abbey, as well as open gardens and boutique shopping streets. There is a farmer's market every Wednesday and Saturday.
Wine · ~1 hr 30 min
Saint-Émilion
Saint-Émilion is home to some of the world's most celebrated vineyards. Hire bikes to cycle around, or book in to taste at a château or two.
History · ~45 min
Talmont-sur-Gironde
Talmont-sur-Gironde was founded by King Edward I of England in 1284 and is one of France’s most beautiful villages, having retained its medieval layout almost entirely intact. The 12th-century church of Sainte-Radegonde overlooks the cliffs, and the narrow lanes are dotted with local artisan shops — well worth an afternoon’s exploration.
The ones beside us
We are so glad that you can join us to celebrate. Having the people we love most in one place, in such a special setting, means everything to us, but we wanted to call out a few of our nearest and dearest.

The château is a mix of inside and outside throughout the weekend, so we would not recommend stiletto heels.
